Best Waterfall Views from Cable Car and Boat
Some waterfalls reveal themselves only from above (cable cars, helicopters) or from below (sightseeing boats). The vantage transforms the photograph entirely. All ten on the map.
1. Iguazú from the Maid-of-the-Mist-equivalent boat
The 'Gran Aventura' (Argentine side) boat goes directly into the base spray of San Martín Island falls — soaking but unforgettable.
2. Niagara Maid of the Mist
Steamboat directly into the base of Horseshoe Falls since 1846. Disposable raincoats included; expect to be soaked.
3. Geirangerfjord Seven Sisters from cruise
The Seven Sisters cascade is best seen from a Geirangerfjord cruise — daily summer ferries from Geiranger and Hellesylt run past the cliff.
4. Multnomah from the Columbia River cruise
Several falls of the Columbia Gorge are visible from the river — Multnomah, Wahkeena, Bridal Veil. Sternwheeler tours from Cascade Locks.
5. Mealt Falls from the Kilt Rock viewpoint
55-metre coastal fall best viewed from the Kilt Rock parking 30 m away — there is no other access. Tour bus stop on Skye.
6. Niagara Skylon Tower
236-metre observation tower overlooking the falls — best aerial view without a helicopter. Daily; restaurants at the top.
7. Helmcken from helicopter
Wells Gray Provincial Park (BC) offers heli-tours that pass directly above the 141 m Helmcken Falls and the spray-ice cone in winter.
8. Dudhsagar from train
The Konkan Railway viaduct passes directly across the 310-metre Dudhsagar Falls — passengers can photograph from the train window during monsoon.
9. Kjosfossen from the Flåm Railway
Flåm Railway makes a scheduled stop at Kjosfossen station specifically for passengers to photograph the 225 m fall from the platform.
10. Sambawan from outrigger boat
