Argentina holds the largest part of the Iguazú cascade system, the Andean Patagonian falls and several remote Misiones tropical curtains. All ten on the map.

1. Iguazú Falls, Misiones

275 individual cascades along 2.7 km of cliffs on the Iguazú river, total flow 1,800 cubic metres per second. The Argentine side has the upper boardwalks above the Garganta del Diablo.

2. Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat), Iguazú

82-metre U-shaped main drop of Iguazú, accessed by elevated walkway from the upper park. Half the river's flow falls here.

3. Saltos del Moconá, Misiones

A linear waterfall 3 km long — the river falls sideways into the canyon of the Uruguay along its course, not over it. Visible only at low water.

4. Salto Encantado, Misiones

62-metre plunge in a provincial park in Misiones. Boardwalk and stairs descend to base; year-round flow.

5. Cascada Chachín, Neuquén

20-metre fall in the temperate rainforest of Lanín National Park. Short walk from Lake Lácar; combine with boat tour to Hua Hum.

6. Cascada Inacayal, Bariloche

50-metre fall in the Nahuel Huapi national park near Bariloche. Two-hour return walk through southern beech forest.

7. Cascada Los Alerces, Chubut

Series of cascades in Los Alerces National Park (UNESCO), home to 3,600-year-old alerce conifers. Boat tour combined.

8. Saltos Eccaiwer, Misiones

Less-visited multi-tier cascade in northern Misiones, in red-soil Atlantic forest. Reach by 4x4 from El Soberbio.

9. Cascada Escondida, El Bolsón

Hidden cascade in the Andes near El Bolsón, Río Negro. 5-km return forest trail with viewpoints.

10. Salto Yacui, Misiones

30-metre cascade on the Yacui river in Misiones, an emerald-water tributary of the Iguazú system. Sparsely visited.
