Top 10 Waterfalls in Croatia

Croatia's waterfalls are travertine — formed by mineral-laden river water slowly building up porous limestone deposits. The Plitvice and Krka national parks hold most of the country's named falls. All ten on the map.

1. Veliki Slap, Plitvice

78-metre plunge, the tallest fall in Plitvice and in Croatia. Wooden boardwalk approach from the lower lake.

2. Skradinski Buk, Krka

17-step travertine cascade on the Krka, total drop 46 metres. Bathing was permitted until 2021; now strictly forbidden.

3. Roški Slap, Krka

Twelve travertine steps over 27 metres on the Krka, upstream of Skradinski Buk. Boat tour from the upper park entrance.

4. Sastavci, Plitvice

The confluence of the upper and lower Plitvice lakes, where multiple streams cascade together over travertine.

5. Manojlovački slap, Krka

60-metre tiered cascade on the upper Krka — the tallest in the park. Roadside viewpoint; reduced flow July-September.

6. Galovački buk, Plitvice

20-metre fall between Galovac and the upper lakes, viewed from boardwalks on both sides of the gorge.

7. Milanovački slap, Plitvice

Cascade above Milanovac lake in the lower section of Plitvice, with boardwalks crossing directly above.

8. Veliki Prštavac, Plitvice

28-metre cascade on the upper Plitvice lakes, viewed from above the lip and from the boat below.

9. Brljan Falls, Krka

15-metre travertine cascade upstream of Manojlovac. Accessible by Krka NP boat tour; not on the main visitor route.

10. Slap Zrmanje, Zrmanja

Cascade on the Zrmanja river in Paklenica NP. Often dry in late summer. Combine with the Zrmanja canyon kayak tour.
