The Philippines' waterfalls are tropical, jungle-clad, and often reach the sea: Cebu's Kawasan, Bohol's Kawasan, Mindanao's Asik-Asik all draw their own crowds. All ten on the map.

1. Kawasan Falls, Cebu

Three-tier turquoise cascade in Badian, Cebu — the country's most photographed fall. Canyoneering tours descend the upstream gorge to the falls.

2. Asik-Asik Falls, North Cotabato

Wide cliff-spring cascade in Mindanao where water emerges from the rock face itself, not a stream above. 140 metres wide.

3. Tinago Falls, Iligan

240-metre approach down 500 steps to a deep, cool pool. Iligan calls itself the 'city of majestic waterfalls' — and Tinago is its best.

4. Tumalog Falls, Cebu

Veil-style cascade in Oslob, Cebu, falling like a curtain into a wide bathing pool. Habal-habal motorbike from town.

5. Pagsanjan Falls, Laguna

23-metre fall on the Pagsanjan river inside a jungle gorge. Outrigger canoe-ride upstream with paddle through the spray — Apocalypse Now filming location.

6. Maria Cristina Falls, Iligan

98-metre twin plunge in Iligan, providing hydroelectricity for Mindanao. The falls are released for tourists during set viewing hours.

7. Aliwagwag Falls, Davao Oriental

84-stage cascade dropping 388 metres total — likely the country's tallest. Skybridge and zipline for adventure visitors.

8. Camayan Falls, Pampanga

Hot-spring cascade beside Mount Pinatubo, with naturally warm flow even in winter. Combine with Pinatubo crater hike.

9. Lulugayan Falls, Samar

Wide multi-cascade on the Calbiga river in Samar — sometimes called the Philippines' Niagara for its width.

10. Sambawan Island Falls, Biliran

Coastal cascade that drops directly onto the beach in the Biliran island group. Boat access from Naval town; combine with snorkelling.
