Vietnam's waterfalls cluster in two zones: the northern limestone highlands at the Chinese border (Ban Gioc) and the basalt Central Highlands around Dalat. All ten on the map.

1. Ban Gioc, Cao Bang

A 30-metre, three-tier limestone cataract on the Vietnam-China border — at 300 m wide, the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia. Best September-October.

2. Dambri, Lam Dong

A 57-metre vertical plunge near Bao Loc on the Dalat plateau. Glass elevator and lower-pool trail.

3. Pongour, Lam Dong

A seven-tier limestone cascade 40 km south of Dalat, 40 m tall, 100 m wide. Annual full-moon festival draws crowds.

4. Datanla, Lam Dong

A pine-forest cascade close to Dalat with an adventure park: alpine slide, zipline, abseil through the lower steps.

5. Elephant Falls, Lam Dong

A 30-metre cascade west of Dalat at Nam Ban village. Slippery stone steps lead behind the falls; year-round flow.

6. Prenn, Lam Dong

A 13-metre fall at the southern entrance to Dalat, with manicured park and a walk-behind path. Most visited fall in Vietnam.

7. Thac Mu, Hoa Binh

Multi-step cascade north of Hanoi in Hoa Binh, 200 metres total. Off-the-beaten-path; motorbike or hire car from Mai Chau.

8. Bao Dai (Hidden Falls), Lam Dong

Off-grid fall named for the last Emperor of Vietnam. Long unpaved approach via Da Lat-Di Linh road; no tour buses.

9. Yang Bay, Khanh Hoa

Cascade resort west of Nha Trang with bathing pools, restaurants, and (unfortunately) a cock-fighting show.

10. Silver Falls (Thac Bac), Sapa

A 200-metre roadside fall on the Sapa-Lai Chau road in the Hoang Lien Son range. Steep staircase to upper viewpoint.
